Saffron Indian Restaurant Aberdeen
Located next to the Clark's shoe shop in Union Street, Saffron Indian Restaurant is a haven for shoppers
looking for a relaxing lunch time meal at bargain prices. The restaurant is also open in the evening with a range of tandoori
and traditional Indian meals. There is an extensive take away menu.
Lunch Menu Of Saffron Indian Restaurant
Lunch time visitors can enjoy a starter, main meal with rice and nan bread and ice cream or coffee for under £6.This
is known as the business lunch, though enjoyed by families, couples, singles and business people. There is a choice
of four traditional curry dishes from their menus. These are korma, bhoona, madras and vindaloo. There is also
a range of four specialist curries which include a makhon chicken or massala chicken. Starters include two large onion
bhajis, prawn cocktail or pakoras.
Portions are large, so much so that we would recommend groups or couples ordering one rice and one nan bread as your choice
of accompaniment because they are large enough to share.
Chocolate mints and some delightful Indian sweets which look like hundreds and thousands are served with the bill.
These have a refreshing cinnamon mint taste.
Service is very gentlemanly: doors are opened upon entry and exit, a warm welcoming smile is always given. Chairs are
pulled out and tables are well set out with shiny silver cutlery and linen napkins and table clothes. Don't be fooled
by the cheap prices - this is a well decorated and maintained restaurant with first class service and food freshly made by
some great chefs.
Window seats give a good outlook onto Union Street where the hustle and bustle of the shoppers and traffic gives
a sharp contrast to the relaxed interior of the Saffron restaurant.
The business lunch is served from noon until 4pm. Thereafter the extensive main menu is available - still at
very reasonable prices.
Takeaway orders are available and there is free delivery within a 6 mile radius of the restaurant. The restaurant
closes at 11:30pm.
There is a flight of stairs to climb before getting to the restaurant, and a further flight of stairs
takes you to the toilets. Unfortunately there are no disabled facilities and no disabled access.
